RA CEO Tosha Rhodenizer to Step Down Later This Year
After nine years as Chief Executive Officer, Tosha Rhodenizer steps away from RA Centre as she relocates her family to Nova Scotia to support extended family.
“We are extremely grateful for all Tosha has done for the RA during her nine years with the Association”, states RA President, Karen Jackson. “Tosha has been a visionary in leading the RA through a multitude of complex projects and challenging situations. Her stellar leadership led to the creation of the House of Sport, Curling Centre of Excellence, and Pickleball Centre and was unparalleled in navigating the recent pandemic. The RA and the broader Ottawa community will miss Tosha dearly."
The CEO is responsible to oversee day-to-day operations leading a dedicated team of employees, carry out the ambitious strategic direction supported by the Board of Directors, and continue to evolve the organization to meet its future needs, opportunities, and challenges.
“In 2014 the RA required a bold business executive to guide the Association,” shares Lee McCormack, who was part of the search committee at the time, “Tosha’s experience in the Ottawa community, her leadership at the YMCA and her desire to build a strong RA culture, demonstrated how she could impact our then 70-year-old association. What she has accomplished has surpassed expectations. The RA has re-established itself as a sport, recreation and wellness leader in Ottawa.”
The Board has engaged the Business Sherpa Group to begin the process of identifying the RA’s next CEO. The CEO has ultimate accountability for fulfilling the ambitious goals set forth in the Board’s Strategic Plan, including the development of Phase 2, an expansion of the RA Centre through a unique design connecting health, sport and wellness unique to Canada. In addition, the CEO is a spokesperson and ambassador for our not-for-profit association, serving with integrity in accordance with the RA’s core values.
"It has been an honor and privilege to serve as CEO of RA. Together we have evolved the RA to broaden the manner in which we service the Ottawa Community and beyond. Magic happens when you have a phenomenal, well-connected Board, talented and passionate staff, dedicated members and clients and a long list of committed partners,” shared Tosha Rhodenizer “I am excited about the future of the RA and the potential for this wonderful organization.”
Tosha will remain as CEO working closely with the Board, participating as a member of the selection committee and is committed to ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for the incoming CEO. There will be opportunity later this Fall to come together to say “Hello” and “See You Again Soon”.
