Creating a Culture of Diversity and Inclusion
The diversity that surrounds us today creates both challenges and opportunities, and as a leader in community sport and recreation, it is critical for our not-for-profit to create inclusive spaces, programs and services. Inclusion is a journey, not a destination, and the work is never complete but rather a continuous state of progress. With our community’s support, we hope to identify and remove systemic barriers and create safe and brave spaces, structures, and programs within our organization. Inclusion is how we unleash the power of diversity.
The RA strives to offer programs which are welcoming to all participants. We are strongly committed to working with individuals to support and accommodate diverse needs and abilities to ensure everyone can feel included, supported and ultimately to have an enriching experience. We ask that individuals connect with us before registering if they may require additional support so we can explore together how we can best accommodate them. |

Volunteers - The Heart of the RA
With the support of individuals and local partners, we connect to people with diverse skills, cultural backgrounds, ages, and abilities that strengthen our capacity to meet the evolving needs of our Association. We are committed to creating a warm, safe, and inclusive environment where the talents, passions and unique gifts of these individuals are recognized and nurtured. The RA benefits from the volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors and help our staff deliver meaningful experiences, the individuals who through their achievements bring recognition to the RA and the local partners who help support our mission and vision.
Our core values - Respect Others, Include Everyone, Have Fun, Stay Healthy, Give Back, Stronger Together - are woven into the diverse and colourful tapestry that is our RA Community. Hundreds of volunteers regularly share their time, talents, and passions to contribute towards achieving our mission - To lead a diverse and innovative network committed to the pursuit and provision of excellent health, recreation, fitness, and sport leadership that strengthens people in the communities we serve.
Engaging individual volunteers and connecting with local partners links us to people with diverse skills, cultural backgrounds, ages, and abilities that strengthen our capacity to meet the evolving needs of our not-for-profit Association and broader communities we serve.

An Attitude of Gratitude
Embracing an "attitude of gratitude" means making the habit of expressing appreciation on a regular basis for big and small things alike. Under this guiding principle, the RA Board of Directors has undertaken a review of the established bi-annual Recognition and Awards Program as well as the introduction of two new initiatives to regularly celebrate the fabulous RA community of volunteers.

In addition to these expressions of gratitude the RA Volunteer Spotlight will shine on a couple of RA volunteers in each edition of the RA News and published on the RA Storytelling page of the website. These volunteers will be selected from the RA stories that YOU share. |
