John Clow
RA Archery Instructor USA Archery Level 2 John is originally from Ottawa but took up archery in the mid-1970s in Northern British Columbia. As is common with so many people, life got in the way of his archery hobby, but after retirement, John was able to take up archery again. He began shooting at the outdoor range and when the weather changed, he moved indoors to the RA Archery Club. Eventually, John became a Range Safety Officer, often helping evaluate new archers. He has been actively involved with assisting various groups of youths who attend the range as part of their school curriculum. John quickly discovered how much he enjoyed working with the kids and teaching them archery. After becoming certified as a USAA coach John began instructing a variety of archery courses at the RA. John has been coaching for a couple of years now. He has noticed that his shooting has improved along with the kids… probably because he has to keep one step ahead of them! |
Margaret Sampson
RA Archery Instructor Archery Level 2 Certification Margaret is from Ottawa and began archery at the RA in her youth. She had a rewarding career as a competitive archer in both field and target archery, establishing national records in 3 disciplines and twice competing in the World Archery field championships. Most of her shooting was in the Olympic recurve style but she is now shooting barebow. Margaret has 15 years of experience instructing and coaching and is certified through the NCCP. Margaret began instructing at the RA while still a junior and is back teaching after a long break. She enjoys teaching beginners as well as working one-on-one with archers who want to prepare for competition. Margaret believes that by developing good fundamentals and a strong mental game, a new archer can gain accuracy and prepare for a lifetime of enjoyment in this multi-faceted sport. |
