4 to 13 years old
At RA Camps, inclusivity is at the heart of our mission, ensuring all campers experience the joy of Summer Camp to the fullest.
The One-on-One RA Camp Experience is Back for Its 2nd Year!
We are thrilled to announce that the One-on-One RA Camp Experience is returning for its second year, bringing even more opportunities for your child to shine. This personalized program is designed with your child's unique needs and interests in mind, offering a more customized camp experience. The RA's Inclusive Recreation Supervisor, together with the family, camper, and a dedicated special needs camp counselor, will work closely together to create a camp experience that supports your child every step of the way.
This program is all about individualized attention, ensuring your child feels safe, comfortable, and supported as they explore all that camp has to offer. With a counselor who is hand-picked for their compassion, patience, and dedication, your child will receive the care they need to flourish in a nurturing environment. The result? A camp experience where your child can fully participate, learn, grow, and most importantly, make lasting memories.
Join us this summer and help make it unforgettable for your child. From sports and games to crafts and creative adventures, your child will build meaningful connections, develop new skills, and enjoy all the excitement of camp – all with the support they deserve.
Commitment to Support and Limitations
At RA Camps, we are deeply committed to providing a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every camper feels valued. Our dedicated staff members come with a wealth of experience and a strong desire to help children with a variety of needs thrive. While our counselors are enthusiastic, caring, and well-trained, it's important to understand that they are typically university students with experience in supporting children with special needs, rather than professionals with specific training like educational assistants (EAs), child and youth workers, or occupational therapists (OTs). Although our counselors work hard to offer the best care they can, they do not have the specialized training that these other professionals provide.
Expectations for Camper Behaviour
We are committed to making sure each child enjoys their camp experience to the fullest, and we ask for your support in ensuring a safe and positive environment for all. We kindly ask that campers are able to independently manage their personal hygiene needs (such as controlling their bowels and bladder, and wiping themselves). While we wish to support all campers as much as we can, our staff and facilities are not equipped to offer this level of personal care.
Understanding the Camp Environment
A camp setting is inherently different from school or home. It is less structured and often less predictable, which can lead to some disruptive behaviours, especially for children with special needs. Our team is wholeheartedly dedicated to creating an inclusive, caring atmosphere where all campers can feel comfortable. However, we also have a responsibility to prioritize the safety and well-being of every child. If behaviours ever put the camper, other children, staff, or the wider community at risk, we may need to make the difficult decision to end that camper’s participation in the program.
We truly appreciate your understanding, trust, and cooperation as we work to provide a wonderful experience for every child. Our goal is to ensure that each camper has the opportunity to thrive, and we’re here to support them every step of the way.
