One-hour court rentals are available to the public and RA Badminton Club members at two affordable rates:

Prime Badminton Court Rental

​Monday–Friday, 4:00pm-11:00pm
Saturday & Sunday, 7:00am-9:00pm
FEE: $26.55 per court + $1.99 Facility Renewal Fee = $32.25 (tax Included)

Non-Prime Badminton Court Rental
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
FEE: $17.70 per court + $1.33 Facility Renewal Fee = $21.33 (tax Included)

Please note: Statutory holidays are considered prime court rentals.

HOW TO BOOK A COURT
  • Book online through PlayRA. To read the How to Tips on the PlayRA page, click here.
  • By phone:  Call Guest Services at 613-733-5100 ext 360.
BOOKING RULES
  • Maximum 5 players per court (includes 1 spare).
  • One person books court and pays the full court fee.
  • Courts may be booked up to 7 days in advance.
  • No refunds. Credits will only be given for bookings cancelled or rescheduled at least 48 hours prior to your reservation. Otherwise, the court fee will be charged without a credit.
  • All participants are required to leave the court once the one-hour rental is over. 
  • An extra charge ($30 per player) will be applied to any participants who use a vacant court before or after their booking time.
  • No formal coaching is permitted on a court rental unless authorized by the Head Pro.

Looking for a fun social group to join? Our Social morning badminton membership is the right option for you! Come with a friend or on your own! Players must have a basic understanding of badminton and some playing experience.

  • Maximum of 60 participants
  • Plastic shuttles are generally used (players supply their own shuttles)
  • Games are played within an easy-going atmosphere
  • Players rotate after each game or every 20 minutes depending on the number of participants that day

Matches are competitive in nature and are geared towards players who are interested in improving their skills. Players rotate after each game or every 20 minutes depending on the number of players that day. No singles play, drills or prearranged games. Feather shuttles are used (players supply their own shuttles).

Great membership for intermediate and advanced players who want to improve their Badminton skills through practice drills and pre-arranged games. Matches are more competitive in nature and can be both doubles and singles play.  This program is best played when joining with a training partner.

  • Maximum of 60 participants
  • Feather shuttles are primarily used (players supply their own shuttles)
  • Matches are competitive in nature with players interested in improving their skills

​Great Membership option for individuals looking to join by themselves or with a friend. Sit back and relax and let Club Pro Mike Bitten organize matches for you. All participants must be at least a high intermediate skill level. Not suitable for beginner or social players. Individuals who do not meet the required skill level will be provided a full refund of registration.   • Open to persons 18 years or older
  • Maximum of 55 participants
  • Feather shuttles used only (players must supply their own shuttles)
  • The “playmaker” (normally badminton Pro Mike Bitten) sets games at the right competitive level for each player
  • Matches are 20 minutes in duration, after which new games are organized
  • Doubles games are played at all times under the direction of Mike Bitten or his designate
  • Everyone enjoys equal time on the courts

SOLD OUT  ​ADVANCED EVENING

Great evening membership for competitive tournament players interested in a more challenging games. This program uses the play board to create 20 minutes rotating matches.

A dedicated Monday/Wednesday volunteer committee has been created to focus on fair play, fair use of the play board, equitable playtime and challenging games each evening.

Monday and Wednesday nights  |  8:00pm to 11:00pm
September 11, 2024 to June 18, 2025
  • Open to players 18 years or older
  • Maximum of 55 participants
  • Feather shuttles used only (players must supply their own shuttles)
  • Games are 20 minutes in duration, after which new games are set up
  • Doubles games are played at all times with all members mixing
  • No pre-arranged games, drills or singles play

Individuals must be of the advance skill level to register for this membership. If you are unsure if your skill level will suit this time please reach out to our Badminton Professional for additional information or an assessment. Individuals who do not meet the required skill level will be provided a full refund of registration and will work with the Badminton Professional to find a more suitable time-slot.

Junior high performance tryout 
RABC’s Junior High performance Training is designed for advanced junior members at the District, Provincial or National level.

​The groups are dividing into the follow four skill categories:
  • HP4 - Low Intermediate Level athletes.
  • HP3 - Intermediate Level athletes.
  • HP2 - Provincial Level athletes.
  • HP1 - National/Provincial Level athletes.
This is a group tryout to fill all four sections, individuals who qualify to join the program will receive a personalized invite at a later time from one of the RA Badminton Professionals. Individuals will not be playing the full 9am - 12pm rather everyone will be a signed a time within this window. Please check your emails up to 1 week prior for your assigned time slot.

Promotes competitive play and allows players to gauge their proficiency in comparison to others.

Ages 8-17 - RABC's Junior FUNdamental Training is designed to advance junior players beyond the recreational level.  This program runs September 7, 2024 to April 12, 2025. Try outs are not required.

Private, Semi-Private, and Group Lessons

Want to learn more about the rules and techniques of Badminton? Sign-up for private, semi-private or group lessons with one of our instructors. Our instructors provide lessons to all age groups and for all levels of play.  The lessons given depend on a player’s ability or their preference for a specific area of instruction. All lessons are one (1) hour in length.

The coaching team is comprised of former members of national, international and Olympic team players. Mike bitten - head professional
The RA Centre’s Head Badminton Professional, Mike Bitten, was a 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He has won a record eight Canadian Men’s Doubles championships in his career and was ranked 12th in the world in 1992.
​
Apart from his playing abilities, Bitten has an extensive background in coaching and is certified as a Level 3 coach by the Coaching Association of Canada.

Javier Montes - Assistant Professional
Javier graduated from the Physical Education and Sport Program at the University of Granada (Spain) in 2003, with a specialization in racquets sports, and more specifically in Badminton. Since then, he has been working with kids and adults of all levels.

As a player, under the supervision of Zhang Xiaoping (national Spanish team coach) he won many provincial titles and he was part of the Spanish National Team, playing at both the national and international level. 

Javier is a Certified Badminton Coach in both Europe and Canada. He worked as an Assistant Coach at the Provincial Badminton Training Centre in Granada for 5 years, and he has been working at the RA Centre with our High Performance Junior Group for the past years. He is known for creating champions!
​
He has all the experience, abilities and enthusiasm that you need to develop your skills in badminton, from the beginner to the international level. With Javier as a coach, you will not only improve your game, but you will also have a great time on the court and you’ll want to come back for more!

deepak Sharma - Coach
Deepak was a national-level badminton player in India for over 5 years. He trained with Surjit Singh, a national coach at the prestigious Sports Authority of India, and has won many medals while playing at provincial and national tournaments in India.
 
Deepak is also a certified badminton coach with the Coaching Association of Canada and has experience in working with players in Ottawa.
 
He is passionate about helping players build a solid foundation in the sport by delivering thoughtful training and personalized attention. Driven by enthusiasm for the game, Deepak will make sure that you play hard, aim high and have fun!
