The RA Centre receives a $250,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help sustain operations
OTTAWA – The RA Centre received the $250,000 Community Building Fund – Operating Stream from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to help sustain operations and create new experiences and programs for the community.
“The RA Centre has been an important hub in our community of Ottawa South, providing recreation opportunities for families for over 75 years. I know this investment will help the RA Centre continue to provide a great place for children, parents and families to connect and explore a wide range of activities” said John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South.
As a not-for-profit where revenue is derived through membership and activity fees, the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for the RA Centre. The RA’s recovery continues to build through the return to normal for the programs and experiences that can be safely delivered while leaving potential for growth. The support through this grant focuses on the supporting systems (salaries, software, fixed operating costs) required to maintain the viability to operate facilities and deliver experiences and programs in the short and medium term.
“We are extremely grateful for the support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation” said Tosha Rhodenizer, Chief Executive Officer, RA. “This financial support will assist our not-for-profit organization as we continue on our path to recovery from the impact of COVID-19.”
The RA is much more than bricks and mortar. It is a strong, vibrant community build on friendship, inclusiveness, health, and wellness through the pursuit of sport and recreation. As RA continues the long road to recovery, we will always be guided by our values offering the community a place to grow, be active and live socially. We will embrace a new future, built on core values of Respect Others, Include Everyone, Have Fun, Stay Healthy, Give Back, and Stronger Together.
